# groove guru

> a dj tutor that listens to pioneer pro dj link gear on the booth lan, watches sync / master / beat / cue state, and coaches you in a calm voice when the mix is wrong or improvable — camelot clashes, phrase boundaries, drift.

tagline: practice like someone is watching. because something is.

devices required: pro dj link gear (cdjs + djm) on the booth lan. groove guru is not a browser-only tool; the website only previews the drills.

## status
in development. nothing is released yet: the site and its drill previews are live; the booth harness, the coach and pro are being built.

## what it does
- passive listener on udp 50000 (announcements), 50001 (beat packets, type 0x28), 50002 (player status)
- mirrors the control surface (play, cue, sync, master, on-air, crossfader) in a browser
- coaches key (camelot), phrase (4 / 8 / 16 bars) and timing (drift), one note at a time

## learning path: zero → booth
the site previews each drill with a visual beat clock (no audio). the full path runs in-product against live deck state on real gear.
1. count the bar — build four-on-the-floor on a 16-step sequencer
2. cue & drop — set a hot cue on beat 1 of a phrase
3. ride the phrase — mark phrase turns at 4 / 8 / 16 bars
4. blend on camelot — pick outgoing and incoming keys; compatible = ±1 or relative major/minor
5. the first mix — start deck 2 on the one, ride the crossfader across
6. take it to gear — run the same drills live on your cdjs (devices required)

- cratefield backend: cloudflare workers, d1, durable objects
